You may be aware that the Good Shepherd Ministry announced this week that they are hoping to move to new premises. Since finding a home in Darlington Street in 2003, the work of GSM has expanded beyond the space we can offer. We wish them well as they plan for the move and for their future work in helping our sisters and brothers in need of their help, and we hope to do our part in continuing to serve the people of Wolverhampton in partnership with GSM.
This news comes at the same time that the Church Council have progressed consideration on the future of the building that houses Darlington Street Methodist Church. With the help of the circuit, district and wider connexional resources, the church building will shortly be marketed to potential partners to explore repurposing all parts of our site to enable the Methodist Church to serve the gospel of Christ in this current age.
We are aware that the options open to us, should this marketing plan bring us no viable results, are very limited and the Church Council will then need to consider whether we can continue to operate out of the building at all. We are acutely aware of the impact of these decisions on other centre users and will continue to work with them as we discern our future.
On the tenth day of the month, our circuit prayer diary invites prayers for Darlington Street and so we ask that you pray with this in mind when we come around next in the cycle.
These are not steps we have taken lightly and we bear the weight of the responsibility for this work in faith.
In words of Joseph Hart, "we praise God for all that is past, and trust him for all that's to come"
